The 56th International Sailing Race of Andros: A Race Full of Challenges
The 56th International Sailing Race of Andros, "Ioannis V. Goulandris," is anticipated to be a competition filled with challenges. This event, often referred to as "The toughest race" by sailing enthusiasts, continues to draw the finest Greek crews. The race will be inaugurated by Deputy Minister of Sports, Giannis Vroutsis.
The starting signal for the 56th race will take place tomorrow (13:00), with 17 sailing vessels lining up at the starting line. Notable among the crews are the "Velos" with Olympic champions Takis Mantidis and Pavlos Kagialis, supported by "Eurobank Private Banking," the "Black Jack" with Markos Chatzikyriakakis racing under the colors of Porsche, two vessels from "Optimum Sailing Academy" with talented sailors, and the "Aristofanis" with Simos Kabouridis, and more.

For the first time in the event's history, the race's start will be initiated by a Minister of Sports from the Cyclades. Deputy Minister Giannis Vroutsis will be present at the starting line to signal the commencement of the sailing race. He highlighted the historic significance of the Andros race and the unique challenges it poses to sailors, especially navigating through the narrow passages of Cape Kafireas. The race has gained a reputation as "the toughest race," showcasing the skill, courage, and endurance of the sailors.
The 56th International Sailing Race of Andros includes three courses, one from Vouliagmeni to Andros and two others with starting points at the beautiful Chora of Andros. For the latter two, there will be a live streaming broadcast, a first for open-sea racing in Greece.
The event is supported by various sponsors, with Eurobank's Private Banking serving as the gold sponsor for the sixth consecutive year. Porsche, represented in Greece by Motodynamic, is the silver sponsor, highlighting its commitment to performance, quality, and adrenaline. Other contributing companies include "Adamantios, Alina & Leonidas Polemis," "Bureau Veritas," "Lipra Philanthropies," "L. Papaphilippou & Co," among others.

The International Sailing Race of Andros, initiated by Ioannis V. Goulandris in 1967, continues to be a significant celebration for both sailing and the island of Cyclades. With the support of sponsors, crews, and sailing enthusiasts, the 56th race is expected to be another unforgettable event, full of adrenaline, competition, and unique tales of bravery on the boundless blue sea.
The start of the event will be given from Vouliagmeni where the crews will travel approximately 80 nautical miles from Vouliagmeni to the island of Andros.
