The Holy Week of Easter in Andros
On Holy Thursday, in every church of the island after the divine crucifixion the reading of the Twelve Gospels, the Epitaph is decorated with colorful flowers threaded. This process can last all night.
On Good Friday morning, a pilgrimage is made to the Epitaphs, while in the evening the procession takes place in the picturesque alleys of the island under the light of the candles and the hymns, in an atmosphere of devoutness and endless feast, in Chora, Batsi, Korthi, Gavrio and all the villages. The three Epitaphs meet in the cobbled streets of Chora, in Kairi Square, while in Batsi there is a large procession on the bay with view of the sea and the picturesque settlement.

On Holy Saturday, the whole world celebrates the Resurrection in a beautiful, joyful feast. The people gather in the churches to receive the holy light that comes from the distant tomb of Christ. At the sound of “Christ is Risen” the sky is illuminated by the impressive fireworks and sparklers. The night continues with the traditional serving of Magiritsa, the roast lamb in the oven, local wine and fun until dawn.

On Easter Sunday, Andriot dishes are served in the taverns, with the traditional "Lambriatis" (goat or lamb stuffed, with many local spices, baked in a wood oven) not missing from any table. Many of the taverns have live music from local bands. Enjoy traditional island rhythms.
On Sunday afternoon, in Korthi, Paleopolis, Syneti, Falika and other villages, young and old people play in the streets and squares "Tsounia". A traditional game that looks like bowling.

In Stenies village the atmosphere proves to be particularly "explosive". "Mascula", the old cast cannons that pop from one end to the other in the village with the deafening noise of the fireworks travel all over the island. A unique experience worth living.
