Andrus Beer Trail Race Festival 2024

The first Andrus Beer Trail Race Festival, which was held from 14 to 16 June 2024 on the island of Andros, was a great success and exceeded all our expectations!

Organizers, athletes, volunteers and many people offered their positive energy and as a result we had a beautiful three days full of beautiful routes, great music and a lot of fun, which we will remember for a long time!

The goal and vision of the event, which is under the umbrella of the Municipality of Andros, was to promote the sporting ideals, the beauties, culture and gastronomy of the island and judging by the comments and smiles of the participants, we believe that we succeeded.

Each year this event will donate 30% of the race registration fee to a charity. For this year, as announced, it will be donated to the Andros Kidney Patients Association.

With two very beautiful routes of 34 and 15 km, with many changes of scenery and terrain, they covered even the most demanding athlete, while the shorter one of 5 km was made for young athletes 12-18 years old and of course for all those who wanted to get a small taste of a mountain race and admire Korthi from above! Last but not least, the shorter 1.2 km route was the most important one, as it was addressed to children up to 12 years old, who offered us a unique spectacle! 

Our registrations for our first and most prestigious year exceeded our expectations as we had a total of 560 registrations! In terms of entries we had 62 people in the 32km Gerakones Challenge, 143 people in the 15km Korthi Adventure, 151 people in the 5km Grias Pidima Encounter and 113 children ( several with their parents ) ran in the 1km Future Champions!!!

The big winners of the General in the Gerakones Challenge 32km men's race were:

- 1st Winner: GEORGIOS DIMOULAS with a time of 03:42:41 (The North Face-All Terrain Runners) 
- 2nd Winner: CHRONIS ELIADIS with a time of 04:06:47 (The Runners Project)
- 3rd Winner: IOANNIS KOURKOURIKIS with a time of 04:07:10 (Salomon Hellas)

In the women's race were:
- 1st Winner: MARIA MALAI with a time of 04:56:04 (ADIDAS Runner's Athens)
- 2nd Winner: MARIA FOSTINI with a time of 05:17:50 (The Runner's Project)
- 3rd Winner: SPYRIDOUYOU PALANTA with a time of 07:17:20 (Efklis Running Team)

In the Korthi Adventure 15km route, the winners of the General Category were:

- 1st Winner: NIKOLAOS PONIREAS with time 01:16:25 (A.E. Mesogeion AMENIA O Pallinies/ SAUCONY Greece)
- 2nd Winner: GEORGIOS DIMOULAS with a time of 01:18:49 (The North Face-All/Terrain Runners))
- 3rd Winner: GEORGIOS DIALEKTOS with a time of 01:21:20 (Salomon Hellas)

In the women's race were:
- 1st Winner.
- 2nd Winner: LEMONIA PANAGIOTOU with a time of 01:33:54 (Chalandri Fitnessbox/Neversecond)
- 3rd Winner: ZOI STAMOULI with a time of 01:42:52 (Puma Greece)

In the Grias Pidima Encounter 5km the winners of the General category in the men's race were:
- 1st Winner: GEORGIOS ALIPRADIS with a time of 00:20:31 
- 2nd Winner: DIMITRIOS KASAPIS with a time of 00:20:50 
- 3rd Winner: IOANNIS PAPADOPOULOS with a time of 00:21:19 

In the women's race were:
- 1st Winner: 1.
- 2nd Winner: MARIKA PETRAKI with a time of 00:27:32 (net time 00:27:13)
- 3rd Winner: MARGARITA DENDRINOU with a time of 00:27:32 (net time 00:27:25)

Many thanks to everyone who was with us, whether they ran, helped or had fun. What matters to us is that they were there for us and supported us in their own way!

Of course, what impressed athletes and spectators who attended Korthi Bay this weekend was the number of volunteers. More than 200 people embraced the event, staffed the route stations, the square, the "difficult" route points (markers), the secretariat, the final confirmation of routes, the "skupa", security, the Pasta Party and wherever else it was needed, giving their best and their boundless energy, offering courage, smiles, encouragement and their warmest smile and applause to the athletes. 

A yellow figure was always there to help!

It is a special honour for us to have Security Bodies with us as volunteers such as: 

- The Hellenic Red Cross with a fully equipped rescue vehicle, the Head of the Athens Volunteer, Samaritans, Rescuers & Lifeguards Corps, Ms Stella Athanasaki and four other specialized people provided any medical care our athletes needed.
- The Andros Ambulance Service that was on standby throughout the games, staffed by an ambulance and two rescuers under the responsibility of Mr. Konstantinos Avgeris
- The Andros Fire Brigade with 3 vehicles and 6 people including Mr. Dimitris Priniotakis, Commander of the Andros Fire Brigade. 
- The Greek Police with 1 patrol car and 4 people, among them Mr. Vassilis Maina Commander of the Andros Police Department.
- The Coast Guard with 2 vehicles and 4 persons, among them the Port Director Mr. Ioannis Theocharis.
- The Volunteer Forest Firefighters Association of Andros (SEDA) with 6 vehicles and 18 people, including the President of SEDA Mr. Nikolaos Hazapis.
- The Friends of Andros Firefighters with 12 persons 
- The Hunting Club with 1 vehicle and 2 people.

A huge thank you for entertaining us with their music, DJ Giorgos Marmaras on Friday night and on Saturday night the Musicians of Vrysi with the Dance Group of Korthi ¨The Mustakeio¨ and the Dance Club of Hydrossas gave a special note of fun and a little bit of the island music sounds of Andros. The evening was closed by the Andriotiko Takimi that got athletes, volunteers and a crowd of people dancing until late in the evening.
