Fassa Lighthouse
Fassa Lighthouse in Andros
The Lighthouse of Fassa was built in 1857 and is located at the northwestern tip of Andros, one kilometer through the coast and at a focal height of 212 meters. For many years it was the most powerful on the Greek coast.
During the Second World War it remained off and in the context of the reconstruction of the Lighthouse Network, it reopened in 1945 with oil as its source of energy.
In 1993 the diesel engines were replaced, the lighthouse was electrified and operated automatically electric, with a characteristic white flash every 10 seconds and a light emission of 30 miles.
Access to the lighthouse is by following a road from Gavrio to Makrotantalo.
