St. George Church
The Church of Saint George in Andros
The church of Saint Georgios is the metropolitan church of the island. It was built in the 18th century on the ruins of an older church, which existed in the same place before 1613. Remarkable on the façade, is the marble relief of St. George. On May 10, 1821, Theophilos Kairis officially declared, after the Divine Liturgy, the revolution on the island. It is located on the main pedestrian street of Chora.
